Baptism is still a commandment. If you refuse to be baptized than were you really saved? It’s more than just being dunked in water. God commanded it therefore it is a necessary step towards salvation. Satan believed before he was cast out of heaven because of his disobedience. We need to obey the commandants. Jesus said if you love me you’ll obey my commandments. The thief on the cross was technically under the Old Testament and the church hadn’t fully started yet. Regardless we need to follow the commandments.

I usually like what Frank says, but i can't this time. He straight up lied to the man and completely dismissed what Jesus said to Nicodemus. Besides, just because the bible doesn't mention every time someone gets baptized, that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
@rickdarone Says:
I don't understand why people say that baptism isn't part of the gospel. It is part of the gospel. Not only is it commanded in scripture by Jesus but Paul describes baptism as a participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:1-4) Also, the thief on the cross didn't need to be baptized because the baptism in Jesus' name wasn't in effect since Jesus was still alive. The baptism that was in effect in that moment was the baptism of John the Baptist which is different from Romans 6 baptism. It follows that the thief on the cross could not participate in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Furthermore, even if the Baptism in Jesus' name was in effect, Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth to forgive sins. Baptism for the thief is a moot point. That account is not normative for all believers no more than Paul being blinded on the road to Damascus. These conversion accounts are not the normal way for future generations of conversions. Acts 2:38 is normative conversion. A large crowd heard the gospel message, believed, repented, and got baptized (about 3,000). Jesus didn't tell the crowd at Pentecost that they would be in paradise with him, nor were they all blinded on the road to Damascus. To be clear on my stance on salvation, the Scripture makes it very clear that we are justified by faith. In response to that belief, we follow the commands that Jesus gives concerning our conversion, like leaving behind our life of sin, getting baptized, forming into His likeness etc.......

Wise council and a sound biblically accurate explanation, today many cults and faults gospels ie denominations insist that baptism is essential for salvation in essence its works plus grace, thats not the whole gospel of Jesus Christ, and they will die on this hill, rather then acknowledge the truth sad.
@Christiskinglaw Says:
Mark 16:16 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
@qw2ps4 Says:
How does frank know the thief wasn't baptized. The bible doesn't say anywhere that he was or wasn't. This is called bad theology, believing you can make an assumption and sell it as truth
@MrJimgogo Says:
If its not needed why does Jesus command all nations to do it?
@MrJimgogo Says:
Mark 16:16 KJV [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 1 Peter 3:21 KJV [21] The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: The theif on the Cross was under the law most likely a jew and circumcised, but either way I'm going to follow what the Apostles in the Bible did and get Baptized in Jesus Name, keep reading Acts 2:41 it says those souls were added after that baptism, that's new testament bud. Point blank the opinion of anybody doesn't matter if the Bible says it and the early Apostles did it if Paul did it I'm going to do it, also it's a commandment In Matthew 28:19-20 that's Gospel, and the Gospel is Jesus death burial and Ressurection, it says buried with Christ have put on Christ how do you put on Christ? Get buried with Him, it's all in the Scriptures
@stanleyseiti1317 Says:
You are leaving out the instruction of Christ to preach and baptize the one who believes.
@michaelhalpert5518 Says:
I love Dr. Turek and his apologetics but he has missed something. I wish I could tell him. God only makes two exceptions allowing salvation before baptism. The first is when the Holy Spirit comes down and indwells in the 12 apostles on the day of Pentecost allowing them to speak in tongues. This was done by God in order to show the Jews that the apostles were the real deal and also so that the apostles could communicate to all the Jews from different nations. This also happened before Peter told the crowd of Jews to repent and be baptized. So we see it wasn’t changed later as Dr. Turek claims. The second exception God makes is later in acts when Cornelius’s and his household recieve the Holy Spirit before baptism. This is done to show Peter and the rest of the world that God had now grafted the gentiles into the promise of salvation like Paul tells us in Romans. We can see that it was necessary after Peters reluctance to eat in his dream which was literal in making all foods clean but also a metaphor for Jesus now making all Jews and gentile alike clean. This dream took place immediately before God told Peter to go preach at Cornelius’s house. Romans 6:1-4 also supports baptism as being essential.
@delivefreenana Says:
Doesn’t the Church of Christ believe you get the Holy Spirit at Baptism?
@lionsonthepath Says:
The thief on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized. That should tell you everything you need to know.
@richsuga Says:
Probably Church of Christ
@mikeramos91 Says:
Baptism is not part of the gospel? It’s literally in the great commission 😐
@makedisciples8653 Says:
Baptism is beginning a new life after you are saved. Yes baptism is an outward declaration of an inward change that has taken place. But it’s really more than that. It’s a declaration of identifying with the work and cause of Christ That will get you persecuted (or worse) in some countries (India, China, Iran) because you are now identifying with a new King versus the old king, prime minister, ayatollah, authority, president…whatever. Infants cannot do that. There are 6 instances in the NT (7 if you include Christ’s) They ALL are examples of “Believe and be baptized” An infant cannot believe yet.
@jeffmcelroy5364 Says:
You're wrong here Frank Turek. And here's why- Baptism is WHERE sins are delt with. Romans 6 gives us the most detailed information about the purpose of baptism in the believers life. Read it and understand. Also,there are no examples of people coming to a belief in Christ in the book of Acts WITHOUT a baptism taking place. In Acts 19 we are given an account of Paul "interrogating" a group of disciples whom he re-baptizes so they it will be done correctly. Baptism is undertaken as a result to understanding that without the washing away of ones sins and then those sins being transferred ( propitiation) to Jesus, we would all die in our sins and then on the day of judgement, we ourselves would be held accountable to pay for those sins, and the price we'd have to pay would be our eternal life.

Good argument. But even Jesus got baptized. So everybody should too.

@kicocol Says:
If the Bible is so clear and "explains itself" , why are there so many interpretations on a single topic?
@judyswiderski2682 Says:
I agree. Jesus' disciples baptized others. John 3:22. The risen Jesus commanded baptism. Matthew 28:18-20. Paul did not baptize many because his calling was most certainly to preach. But he spoke of baptism to show the significance of the transactiom of what just happened to the new believer MEDITATE on: Mark 16:16, John 3:3-8, Romans 6:3:3-11, 1 Corinthians 12:15, Colossians 2:6-15.. According to scripture baptism is a part of tbe putification process. John 3:25-26. We are baptized into a clear conscience, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 3:21-22 We call on His name. Romans 10:8-13! Acts 2:21, 36-38. Truly, because Jesus commanded it, it should be done. Paul was baptize calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:26. PLRASE NOTE: Jesus said, You must be born again. John 3:3-8. "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of Spirit is spirit." Verses 3:5-6. Born again is regeneration. Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary online. 'Regeneration means; Reproduction, the act of producing anew. In theology, New birth by the grace of God, that change by which the will and natural enmity of man to God and his law are subdued, and a principle of supreme love to God and his law, or holy affections, are implanted in the heart.' Implanted. Humbling isn't it. We cannot do that. So who does God look to? the humble and contrite ones. Psalm 34:18 and Isaiah 57:15. Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to you, Luke 11:13. He will bring your sins to mind. As he does ask Jesus to forgive you. This will be painful, PRIDE HATES IT. When you see your desperate need (Jeremish 17:9) for a Saviour, call out to Jesus to save you. He came to save sinners. Then do as the risen Jesus commanded, be baptized. Matthew 28:18-20, in the water of repentance Mark 1:1-5, Matthew 3:6. Calling on the name of the Lord, Romans 10:9-13. How? As Peter preached Acts 2:21, 38 and as Paul did, Acts 22:16, Acts 19:1-5. MEDITATE on Mark 16:16, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 6:3-11, 1 Corinthians 12:13 and Colossians 2:6-15. When He has regenerated you, you will desire Him. Read His inspired word, the Authorized Version, the King James Bible. The Spirit of truth will lead you into all truth. His word strengthens, washes (as does His powerful blood). His word reads you Hebrews 4:12. Daily bible reading and prayer is essential in building on the foundation which is Christ Jesus. PS. The other apostles were already baptized, they baptized others. John 4:1-2. Read His preserved word, the Authorized Version later called the King James Bible.

John says it clearly, 'I baptize with water, but the one who comes after me will baptize with fire and the holy spirit!'
@sarahanderson1272 Says:
Baptism is an outward showing of following Christ. For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. Hmmm, no mention of baptism.
@dashriprock5720 Says:
In Corinthians, I'm under the impression Paul himself was saying, he didn't baptized. This was already a church someone must have baptized them.
@randytidmore8021 Says:
There is no one in the first century that was saved without baptism.If you keep reading, fill up in the unit for exapple.When they were in prison they baptized the jailer in his whole house afterwards

Not essential, but we should do it. Jesus lives! ♥️ and is Yahweh God 🙏🏻 Christ ✝️ and King 👑
@sweetlifealley Says:
Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, — 1 Peter 3:21
@marshalldolloff6406 Says:
Frank turek is absolutely wrong here. There is not one example of anyone being saved without baptism after christs death. Christ commanded it at the great commission before his ascension.
@revitalizedbornagain4418 Says:
Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. John 3:3, 5-8, 16-21 (KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. God Honoring Lifestyle Walking in the Light of God's love

@redgoesface1671 Says:
Seems like he's butchering it.
@HaleStorm49 Says:
He starts in Acts but je should start in Matthew 3:15 where Christ is baptized to fulfill all righteousness. We must be baptized to enter the new covenant. Frank is ignoring that and twisting the Apostles teachings to fit a modern protestant narrative.
@kevinlee5690 Says:
No! Baptism is not mentioned in certain verses doesn't mean it wasn't performed. It was commanded in Mark 16:16 and act 2:38. Faith requires works of obedience as per James 2, so obedience to the command from Jesus for us to be baptised.
@melleetheka Says:
Baptism shows obedience to God and that it what saves you by grace

baptism isn’t part of the gospel ? lol Nice to know Christ commands the apostles to do something tats not necessary in Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Frank is a heretic whos theology is poisoned. He really need to stick to philosophical arguments for the existence of God
@somerandom3247 Says:
well that all depends on what parts of the bible you ignore,, and what parts you give credence.
@josephsarto689 Says:
Yes
@fouzyraphael2100 Says:
1 Peter 3:21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Baptism is like enrolment to a university, it gives yoi a privilege to become part of the campus but it will not guarantee your graduation. Baptism gives you the privilege to be part of Christ Bodg but is insuffient to guarantee your salvation. God bless
@TheRealRoyalFam Says:
The thief on the cross could have been baptized.
@Truthmatters- Says:
The thief of the cross was saved under OT and not with the NT. OT is still in effect, so baptism is not required. NT starts when Christ was risen❤
@Truthmatters- Says:
Yes, it is required since it is a commandment but it has no power to save.
@AayushxJesus Says:
Grace ends when works are required for salvation! We are saved by grace which are followed by works.
@mariavanrooyen3750 Says:
Yeah, amen! Read the whole Bible.
@yl_009 Says:
Yes. Baptism is requirmnets. Mark 16:16.
@Onlythenarrowroad Says:
Frank is not incorrect. Water immersion is an act of obedience AFTER one accepts Jesus Christ into their heart as their Lord and Savior for salvation in repentance of and to turn away from one’s sins for SALVATION. One does not have to be baptized to be saved. Water immersion comes after that.
@YeshuaMyGod Says:
Water baptism, like many other purification rituals, was for Kingdom Gospel Jews. The only prerequisite of salvation in the current Age of Grace, is faith in the Gospel. 1 Corinthians 15 1-4.
@Luke-tk9lm Says:
I like Frank, but this is a poor argument. And why did he omit “in the name of Jesus Christ” from his quote of Acts 2:38? 🤔
