How can we test the Gospel authors to see if their accounts are reliable? J. Warner answers these questions in this video from a stage presentation from his book, Cold-Case Christianity.

Eleazar (Heb. El'azar) can be found in Mat. 1:15. Also, Lazarus (Heb. La'zar) is a 1 century form of the name Eleazar.

The vast majority of people are on a pleasure-quest, and not a truth-quest, so these facts will only be convincing to the already-convinced, and the open-minded, searching types.

This is from Josephus’ Antiquities.18.3.3 (63) Now, there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works--a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [THE] Christ; (64) and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him; and the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.

Brilliant points. If a person with no prior biases of any kind were to be asked for an opinion on Jesus, based on the historical record alone, that person would conclude that Jesus rose from the dead. C.S. Lewis, in his book _Surprised by Joy,_ reports that one event which shook his atheism to the core was when another professor at Oxford, as far removed from being a Christian as one may imagine, remarked that it almost seemed as if the "Dying and rising God" accounts had some actual basis in history. Those accounts do have a solid basis in history, as you demonstrate here.

I finished your book Cold Case Christianity today. Devoured it in 3 days. I've been struggling with my faith lately. Seems to come and go - I'll go through periods of zero doubts and all is well, then doubts will creep in and my mind is torn in two going back and forth over things I thought I moved past weeks or months ago. Your book has been really hitting somewhere I haven't much touched before - all the evidence. I'm going to read it again to hammer it all in. Thank you so much for all the work you and your wife have put into your mission. I also have the kid's version of cold case and will start reading that with them in two days when they're back home. I'm thinking it'll help to "teach" them as I read it to them and help answer their questions. Thank you! Also, love your videos - I could listen to this evidence-based approach for hours and hours :)

Amen. Is called “enemy attestation” by ancient scholars. Also, scientists have said no eclipse occurred at all near that time and region.

To assume the Gospels are wrong because they claim miracles (eg the resurrection), is to beg the question about the existence of God that the Gospels were written to be evidence for, by being testimonies to those miracles. So many (most?) atheists are only atheists because they commit a logical fallacy. I do find that rather ironic. I'd also like to put it on the sides of buses.

If only society presented the argument from a non bias intellectually honest position. Praise God for His Holy Word or else we’d never have the Truth. Praise Him for protecting His Word
