Acceptance plays a role. It doesn't mean you don't want things to change/improve. But you're accepting reality and how you got there as it is. That's the first step to contentment. The second step is gratitude for what I do have. Even if it is only the fact I'm breathing. Then find some small thing that can give me joy/comfort. God's presence and love is always one of those things.

I'm asking the Lord to help me in my growth as His child. I just turned 58, unmarried (not bothered), no children (also not bothered). But I realized that I've been trying to grow "on my own" and get easily discouraged by the heaviness in my life. My mistake has been not letting Him lead. That's what I'm trying to correct: leaning not unto my own understanding. And I like what I've heard from JM ministries. My thanks to the Meyers for the work they do.
