God is HOLY.... Perfect. Without spot or blemish. Sin cannot dwell with Him unless it has been atoned for... THAT is why people need Jesus. Because we all sin. Some maybe more obviously than others but GOD is spirit ... and any sin is punishable -- even sin of the mind.

Would Frank say his wife is more good than Hitler was? I'm assuming he would. If he does think that, than he believes some people are more good than others. So is it just for a person who is more good than a Christian to be punished for simply not believing Jesus is God? If Jesus paid the price than the price has been paid. Why would it matter if someone believed it or not? If your kid was about to die unless you paid off some debt you could easily pay off, would you refuse unless they knew and gave you credit? Of course not. Seems kinda silly that God would reward bad people over more good people simply because they believed ancient stories.

What a load of codswallop. Your explanation of good, depends on believing in an imaginary friend. I am constantly amazed at Christianity’s claim to moral authority, only to undermine it with its dependence on irrational belief.
@DigbyOdel-et3xx Says:
Yes, that is why Christianity is the logical faith.
I too use good deeds vs bad analogy as well. If good deeds gets you to Heaven and since all humans have a track record of good and bad deeds, what ratio of good vs. bad does God use? I really want to know so that I can try to skate to that ratio. Is it 50-50? 60-40? 70-30? Or what?
What if my ratio is say 95% good deeds but of the 5% bad deeds includes me going on a rage and running over a bus stop full of people in my car, will God say I'm welcome to Heaven?
Christianity has it clear, straightforward but not always easy for people to want to follow.
You humble yourself to God as a sinner.
You ask for and accept Salvation through Christ.
Once you do your heart will begin to change, your desires to sin will begin to fade. Your desires to live a more moral life will root itself in you.
Now this Salvation thing is not a get out of jail free card. You can't just accept Salvation then intentionally go on to live the same sinful life you did. God knows your heart and will know you never intended to accept Salvation through Christ.
But the thing is about Christianity is unlike deeds based religions, you are not trying to bribe God to get into Heaven. You know that you are not worthy of Salvation, but that Jesus paid the fine for your sins. As long as you are genuine with Salvation the path to Heaven is open through God's grace.

Jesus Christ was never called "Teacher", at least, not according to the King James Bible. This is why I have major problems with most of these "Modern Translations". They lose their accuracy, by downgrading Jesus from "Master" all the way down to "Teacher". Some of these "Modern Translations" downplay the Divinity and the Deity of Jesus Christ.
For your information, the WHOLE KING JAMES BIBLE is about Jesus Christ! He was known by Two Specific Titles in the Old Testament of the Bible. He was known, not only as The Lord God, but also as The Angel Of The Lord. He is also known as "I AM", in both Exodus 3:14, and in John 8:58.
Don't just take my word for it. Search the Scriptures for yourself, and let Him speak to your heart, and let him prove himself to you!

A pyramid scheme, where the same people who you steal from are then "commanded" to bring in more people (I e. more tithes) to steal some more. Then keep doing it until you become a mega church.

@FleagleSangria Says:
The faith vs. works debate is really no debate at all.
(Though I am certain what I am posting will somehow be debated lol)
Both faith and works are integral parts of the Christian life.
Biblically, faith is the cause of salvation, while works are the evidence of it.
That is it, it is not complicated.
The problem in the example of the short starts when folks think by doing works they somehow can earn their way to heaven, as this young lady was talking about concerning her friend.
If you aren’t really seeing much evidence in your walk with Christ concerning fruits of the Spirit, then perhaps one should pray to God about their faith, relationship and even their eternity.
On the other hand if one is compulsively trying to “gut it out for Jesus” thinking that this is impressing God or gaining “heaven points” then one should check their legalism meter and see if they are placing themselves under the law.
Scripture:
Our works do nothing to earn or maintain salvation:
It was the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ that justifies sinners.
Romans 3:24:
“Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, . . . because by the works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:16). We begin by faith, and we continue in faith: “Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?” (Galatians 3:2–3).
• Salvation is by grace, which precludes works:
Grace is, by definition, unearned, and Scripture makes it clear that God’s grace in salvation destroys the argument for human effort: “If by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace” (Romans 11:6). “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
• God’s requirement for salvation is faith in His Son:
One of the grand themes of the Bible is that we are justified, or declared righteous, by faith (Genesis 15:6). Faith is the only means of making sinful human beings able to stand before a holy God. No amount of law-keeping or good works can accomplish it (Titus 3:5). If our works could save us, then Christ died for nothing (Galatians 2:21).
• Works are the product of faith:
Those who have true faith in Jesus Christ will be “eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:14). John the Baptist called for “fruit in keeping with repentance” (Matthew 3:8). The book of James emphasizes the nature of true saving faith as that which results in good works: “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” and “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead” (James 2:17, 26). Grace through faith saves, and that faith is manifest in works. If someone claims to have faith yet exhibits no good works, his or her faith is “dead,” or nonexistent.

On a deeper level... when Jesus asks "why do you call me good?", it's like asking him, what's his standard, his or God's? Ultimately, it's God's.
