Pastor Cliff Knechtle once gave an example (I'm recalling this from memory this is not exact I'm just doing my best) about a seeing man and a blind man. If the seeing man is watching his blind friend walking towards a cliff, how can you call it loving to let him fall off with the reasoning of "well if that's how he wanted to go it's not my place to tell him otherwise". That's the opposite of loving. Loving someone means wanting the best for them. That doesn't mean that you get to control them or judge them for what they're doing. But it does mean that you should and must point out the cliff they're walking towards.
