My encapsulated take: 1) We begin with a new slate via the New Birth with its new heart, upon which is written Jesus' Truth, and a new spirit of the Heavenly Father's, and a cleansed conscience. 2) We are given the Law of the New Covenant, the Law of Christ, chief of which are the two Commandments of Love. (ALL social orders require a rule of law, to overcome lawlessness' destruction individually and corporately.) 3) We are equipped with the 'firstfruits' of Grace needed to overcome internal and external obstacles, so that the Law of Christ is able to be obeyed. 4) We are challenged with those obstacles, chiefly by crossing paths with unlovable people, which requires us to stretch our firstfruits of Grace to their breaking points, us requiring more Grace and our resisting temptations to the contrary. 5) We confront those challenges by falling on the Rock, waiting at the foot of the Cross, the feet of Jesus, for that additional Grace as needed. (Much of which is potentially instantaneously available, as I discuss in X.) 6) We repeat the above again and again and again, up to the conclusion of our earthly walk, allowing ourselves to be perfected in Love and the other Fruits of the Spirit: Grace upon Grace upon Grace.... 7) Among the next words we hear: "Well done, good and faithful servant...." Endurance -run our race, be long suffering for righteous sake, rely on and trust God who will strengthen us with perserverance and stamina and meet our needs to make our paths straight in right time in doing His will in our lives.
