I think I have to disagree. Jesus used all kinds of hyperbolic language, metaphors and symbolism to describe his role as the Son, his relationship with the father and our inheritance. and duty. Jesus would use the seemingly mundane or ordinary cultural practices to drive home crucial biblical truths. So while I understand your point, we donāt want to become overly poetic when viewing these passages, they can serve as both history and more.

ā°ļøš¤ Hey Friends š¤ā°ļø Many are missing the point here. Encouraging focus on correct interpretation and the primary meaning. Yes you can apply these metaphorically BUT... With caution. The warning is valid. Scripture has specific primary purposes, meanings & literally styles. Proper respect & interpretation is the intent. We live very much in an age where the Gospel is twisted by scholars, teachers and lay people constantly. Sometimes this is intentional sometimes naively. The Gospel and nature of God loses power & depth when it's altered into a message focused on us for our service, instead of focusing on God and our loving gratitude & service to Him for his mercy & love.

Its events that happened thousands of years ago that are still relevant today!

It's amazing, bc Peter asked "do you care?" After Jesus stilled the storm he knew Jesus cared. Thus he wrote in his epistle "casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you". He not only learned He was God, but learned that He cares for him in that moment. Which was a fantastic lesson for anyone to take from the story.

There are literal examples of scriptures where people use the scriptures as an example of what to do or not to do in life, or what God will do etc (example the whole book of Jude). To approach the scripture in a context way "alone" will leave out much of the "spirit" of the scripture that is able to change our lives. Yes the historical context is truth, yes we should look at the context to rightfully divide it, yes it is also for our example to build our faith. After all, God allowed them for the end time churches example

I get what youāre trying to say here, but Iāve always been taught there is one interpretation and multiple applications. In essence, yes these are historical events, but it is also a testimony to Godās character, love and power towards us. Best to teach the scripture correctly and let the Holy Spirit do the comforting, convincing. On the opposite end, I could also see how this could give someone a misrepresentation of God, but again, slippery slope here I think and we just need to be careful interpreting the text, period.

Sometimes they don't read enough. Like the people who use the story of the woman who was caught in adultery and Jesus said, "Let him without sin cast the first stone." The disciples were struggling with the duality of Jesus. That yes He was a man but He was also fully God. Furthermoreā¦ in hindsight, as we have the scriptures laid out for us todayā¦ we can look upon it as a whole and find metaphorical connections that maybe arenāt there - or maybe they are. The ark, for instance, is a symbol of the safety we have in Jesus from death. All were welcome, many were calledā¦ and eventually God shut and sealed the door and if you werenāt on the ark you perished. And the apostles eluded to these things as wellā¦ like when Matthew says ājust as Jonah was 3 days and nights in the belly of a great fish, so will the Son of Man be 3 days and nights in the heart of the earthā Iāve never given a thumbs down on this channel beforeā¦ this is a first.

I dont think many of the comments understand the implications if the interpreter allegorises any portions of the text. If every text can be allegorize, then how would we know what is true and what is false? It's just a matter of personal preference at that point. Hence, we tie the meaning of the text to the authorial intent, eliminating any allegories.
