In chapter 1 man and woman are made after the animals and at the same time and given control of the Earth. In chapter 2 Adam is created from the dust and placed into the garden before the animals. Then God says Adam needs help in the Garden and creates the animals and Eve is created after the animals. If the story of Adam and Eve were told in the Koran or some other religion, Christians would laugh at it. The idea that God considers the "first sin" to be eating fruit from a tree in a garden that contained the knowledge of Good and Evil is absurd. It's an explicit endorsement of ignorance used by powerful religious figures to discourage followers from seeking truth and knowledge outside of the church. You also have to believe that snakes had legs and could once talk until God punished the entire species for the actions of one. You also have to believe that God punished all women with painful childbirth and gave Adam a slap on the wrist by making farming a bit tougher (which would become more accessible with the advent of technology). The problem with this is that if evolution is true, then Adam and Eve had parents, and their parents had parents, etc, etc, back for thousands of generations to the ape men. Moreover, it would also mean that Paul got it wrong when he called Adam the "first man" in I Cor. 15:45, and Genesis is wrong when it says Eve was the "mother of all living" (Gen. 3:20). Additionally, if evolution is true, then the Flood of Noah was local, not global (because a global Flood would have destroyed evidence of uniformitarianism). And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." Jude 1:14 - "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His saints."
