That "relative truth" sounds an awful lot like, "its true to/for me" which is nonsensical. Truth is that which comports with reality. Something cannot be true and untrue simultaneously.

First of all, relative truth doesnt mean that absolute truth cant exist. It just means that some things may be true to you, but wrong to someone else. And secondly and more importantly, why do you need to CONVINCE anyone that god exists? If i dont believe in it, why it doesnt let you sleep at night? Your beliefs dont bother me

I don't think that works really you could say hypothetically that there is no such thing as objective truth and that could be true without being self defeating because obviously the statement itself is excepted. The point is that God either exists or he doesn't, some truths are relative (is the sky blue? depends on where you are in the world), some obviously are objective like God existing or not

One day, likely in the distant future, I'm sure Frank will actually answer the question asked. All he did here is punch a hole in the idea of relative truth. He did not demonstrate that a god exists. Lets say the guy admits he was wrong and that only absolute truths exist, then you would still have to provide sufficient evidence of god's existence, otherwise a conclusion cannot be drawn.

Frank gives a good answer, but there is a problem he didn't solve. Someone who is firmly steeped in relativism often cannot reason well enough to grasp the way his argument works, as I have found from personal experience. This is because the relativist has so firmly indoctrinated him- or herself into thinking ridiculous ideologies that he or she is capable of acknowledging the point "for you" while still thinking that relativism means he or she doesn't have to believe it. He or she will continue to insist "that's true for you but not for me" even when you show the inherent contradiction.

It's a shame that Christianity is a breeding ground for relative truth. Arminianism is true. So is Calvinism. Catholicism is true, and so is Protestantism and Orthodoxy. Speaking in tongues is true, but it's also not true. Feel it in your heart? It's the Holy Spirit and thus true. Difficult passage in the Bible? Just find a preacher or theology that tells you what you want to be true. If anyone disagrees, they just don't have the insight and maturity that you have. No way to confirm anything. Just believe. Or else.

Who makes the claim that there are relatve truths? I’ve never heard this argument. Truths are true true regardless of feeling. That doesn’t make God real or make him truth. As a matter of fact, Christian belief is not about what’s true, it’s about making their god true regardless of what actual truth is.

The fact that an all powerful god can't sell himself to people and needs apologists using terrible apologetic arguments to attempt to sell him, is proof of relative truth. Truth, morality and other things believers feel gets passed down from gods is actually just part of our social species. Most of what we think is right is subjectively common to nearly everyone, and beneficial to our being. We make laws to protect and enforce those beneficial ideas. There are true things that can be determined through the scientific method. But ideas being true is a tough sell. Especially untestable, unobservable, unverifiable, unfalsifiable and unlikely ideas like gods, demons, souls and a spiritual world. Why would anyone wholeheartedly jump into a one sided relationship with a god that can't be proven to exist outside a book? You should believe things after they have been proven to be true, not try to make things true by believing them.
