The trick is, that you have to treat this as a Spiritual book (not history, or a story or novel) present yourself as an empty vessel devoid of bias, and Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you. This is the way the scripture was given, through the Spirit, and cannot be understood without Him as the key. The Bible is magical in that it will deflect false seekers' own expectations (bias) and ego back to them thus hiding the meaning of the text in plain sight.
