Frustrated by the lack of meaning I found in such books, I eventually threw up my hands and said, 'Nobody really knows anything.' Only after losing every material thing I had in this world, including my dear dog Biscuit and my Dad, and becoming homeless, did I find the Truth. One day, as I was sitting beneath the boughs and soughing leaves of the oak tree by which I camped, I realized what a ridiculous and self-refuting idea that mantra was. It was then that I began to search the Scriptures for the answers that I had so long sought, praying to the God who spoke therein. And what He said filled my soul, and I have never looked back since.
